Introduction:
A bookmarklet is a function of some sort written in javascript. It resides in your browser's toolbar and works like a shortcut button; click the bookmarklet and it will somewhat automate or simplify a task. Instead of having to jump through three or four hoops to accomplish a task, you simply click and it is done for you with little input. They can be executed from any web page by either typing them directly into the address bar, or by saving them as a bookmark.

To install a bookmarklet you simply have to click and drag the hyperlink to your shortcut bar. Alternatively you can copy the url of the hyperlinks below and then paste them into a new bookmark.

All listed bookmarklets work accross all major browsers (FireFox, Opera, Internet Explorer, etc...).

Information: - these bookmarklets will take you to general areas of the BlogShares website and display information for you.


*This bookmarklet allows you to search for any user in the system by their User ID. You will be prompted for the ID# and, upon entering it, will be taken to their user profile page.


*This will allow you to view a category on Quactrack by its ID#.


*This will allow you to view a category on Quactrack by its ID#, the blogs displayed in this category will be listed alphabetically.


*This will allow you to view a category on Quactrack by its ID#, the blogs displayed in this category will be sorted by its popularity.


*This bookmarklet will take you to the BlogShares Profile page of any site you are currently visiting so long as that site exists in the BlogShares Index. Excellent tool for voting.


*Clicking this will search BlogShares by either the terms you have highlighted on the page you are viewing, or by the terms you enter into the displayed box upon clicking.


*Clicking this will search QuackTrack by either the terms you have highlighted on the page you are viewing, or by the terms you enter into the displayed box upon clicking.


*This bookmarklet allows you to view an Industry's light view by typing in either its ID# or name. So when using this bookmarklet, entering either 'Technology' or '15' will take you to the same place.

Text Ads: - These bookmarklets allow you to create text ads from anywhere.


*This item takes the document url and title and places them in the appropriate text ad box. If you have text selected on the page it will use that to create the ad body - otherwise you can enter the ad body when prompted by the bookmarklet. You must enter in the chip amount manually once you arrive at the text ad page. Good for using text ads to advertise excerpts of a site or blog.


*Same as above only this allows you to enter the chips directly from the bookmarklet itself.


*This allows you to manually enter in all fields of a text ad from any location.


*This fills in the url for you, allowing you to customize the other three fields.



Missions: - Bookmarklets designed to make traversing the missions a little easier.


*Enter the ID# of the mission you wish to view at the prompt.


*You can enter a mission by simply typing in its ID#.


*View all entries to the specified mission.


*Enter a user's ID# here and you can view all missions that they have created.


*This allows you to edit any mission that you own so long as you remember the mission ID#.



Help System: - A couple simple help node bookmarklets.

Tools: - Bookmarklets to help automate some of the typing in the major tools used on BlogShares.


*Clicking this will add the blog you are visiting to the BlogShares index for you.


*This allows you to manually enter in the information for a blog you want added to BlogShares... (but why when you have the one above???).


*This allows you to see all blogs owned by any user by ID#.


*While viewing a blog on the internet, you can instantly jump to the BlogShares voting panel so long as the blog exists in the system. This will appear in a new window allowing you to view and vote without ever stepping foot on the blog.php page.

*This link will auto-translate several common languages (including japanese and chinese) via Google. It will auto-detect the language the blog is in and translate to english.


*This allows you to record a comment for any website on the internet and save it to a cookie file unique to that website.
